WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) - A weekend full of great music begins Friday night as the Cape Fear Blues Festival gets underway.
This 3-day event has a lot for music lovers of all ages. A cruise along the Cape Fear River on the Henrietta gets the weekend started, but it's just one of the many festival events planned.
Although there are many blues artists to see this weekend, the guest of honor is harmonica virtuoso Lee Oskar. "He's a world famous harmonica player. He was the founder of the band "War", who gave us hits like "Low Rider" and "Cisco Kid". He was the harmonica player on all of those. He's a golden platinum selling artists. He's been nominated to Rock and Roll Hall of fame twice," said Lan Nicholas, Cape Fear Blues Festival director.
The master of the harmonica offers a workshop Saturday to give an insight to his style and methods. An all-day blues jam will be on Sunday at the Rusty Nail.
