WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Environmental activists are sounding off on the EPA's Clean Power Plan. At a news conference today in Wilmington, speakers praised Duke Energy for already taking steps to reduce pollution by switching to natural gas. Board member for the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Mac Montgomery says this is a real issue, and now folks have a chance to take part in this. "Public hearings go on and public comments for the next 90 days," Montgomery said. :This is a plan that extends out to 2030 and is driven by state only. So what we do for north carolina and southeastern north carolina is for us." They say these actions are not for protecting ourselves today, this is for future generations.
