What TV show did you get that idea from that birdshot was a good home defense round? If it's a bird or maybe a rabid squirrel that is attacking, yea, it's a good round. You wouldn't get any deep penetration and would only maim someone that you will have to support after he sues you. If you have to use lethal force to save yours or someone else's life, USE LETHAL FORCE.
