WPD performs Operation: Santa Cop

READ MORE:
Santa Claus usually dons his signature red suit, but today men and women in blue filled in for the big guy. Employees from the Wilmington Police Department chaperoned 43 children through Wal-Mart. It was the seventeenth annual Operation: Santa Cop. The police department raises money to buy Christmas gifts for children who wouldn't otherwise get them. This year's participants picked out gifts ranging from school supplies to puzzles to video games. Shopper Linda Saadeh said, "I got a binder for my school, some clothes, mechanical pencils, a game for my Nintendo DS and a monopoly game." Donors this year included local businesses as well as the district attorney's office. Police gave each child up to $80 to spend.
