A Wilmington restaurant is back in business after health inspectors closed it down last week. Mama's Kitchen at 827 Greenfield Street can cook again. But the eatery had to close its doors after a visit from a health inspector on January 16. The inspector took off five points for food on the floor in a walk-in cooler and bread stored directly on the shelves. Four more points off because the bathroom door was locked and the manager did not have a key. Employees must wash hands when changing job tasks. Multi-use containers and the food prep sink were dirty. 17 violations in all and a score of 67. That was below the minimum 70 needed to stay open. But the slate has been wiped clean, as Mama's Kitchen has fixed all the problems to get its permit back and reopen. Another visit from an inspector can be expected soon. And to Brunswick County and a repeat offender. Great Wall on Sabbath Home road lost five points for many soiled dishes and pans put away as clean. Raw pork was thawing in standing water. Lo mein and crab rangoon were sitting out at room temperature. And the food thermometer was off by six degrees. 86 for Great Wall in Supply. A perfect 100 plus two points for workers passing a food safety course. The same score of 102 goes to the Bento Box in the Forum; though a gasket in the freezer at the sushi station needs replacing. And the Scotchman at 906 North 23rd Street in Wilmington needs to remember to change out foods in hot holding every two hours. But still a perfect 100.
