Local communities receive millions for revitalization

WILMINGTON -- Some local communities are receiving millions of dollars to revitalize their neighborhoods. More than $13.7 million in community development block grants was handed out to North Carolina communities in our area. Brunswick County and the town of Navassa will each get $850,000. Onslow County will receive $700,000. That money will help pay for the construction of water and sewer lines, street improvements and flood drainage. Tabor City will get a share of $740,000 to build affordable housing units. The funding was allocated to the state by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
