NC man charged in triple slaying

READ MORE: NC man charged in triple slaying
INDEPENDENCE, Va. (AP) -- A North Carolina man is charged with capital murder in the killings of three men, including the owner of one of the state's largest Christmas tree farms. Grayson County Sheriff Richard Vaughn says Frederick Phillip Hammer remains in custody in Punta Gorda, Fla. Vaughn said that's where Hammer fled after he was questioned after the bodies of the three men were found Thursday. Vaughn said Hammer has waived extradition and will be brought back to Grayson County. In North Carolina, Ashe County Sheriff James Williams says his investigators want to talk to Hammer in connection with the disappearance of a man who hasn't been seen in nearly a year. Investigators say Ronald F. Hudler; his son, Frederick D. Hudler; and employee John S. Miller were shot to death during an attempted robbery on Ronald Hudler's property in Mouth of Wilson, near the North Carolina border. Ronald Hudler's farm supplied the White House Christmas tree in 1995. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
