Hurricanes try to gain ground in road test at Ottawa

Story body

RALEIGH (AP) -- When the night started, the Carolina Hurricanes were clinging to the eighth spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference playoffs and facing the Ottawa Senators.

As the Hurricanes head north to complete the home-and-home with the Senators, they're in ninth place and hoping to get back into the postseason picture.

Carolina held a 2-1 lead going into the third period before Ottawa rallied for a 4-2 victory at the RBC Center. The two teams play tonight at Scotiabank Place.

In their last eight road games, Carolina has won six and lost two. At Ottawa, Carolina has won at least once in each of the past three seasons, including a victory earlier this year.
