Story body

OTTAWA (AP) -- Dany Heatley scored his team-high 38th goal and Ray Emery earned his fifth shutout of the season as Ottawa beat Carolina 2-to-0.

Jason Spezza assisted on Heatley's goal just four minutes into the contest. Spezza added a third-period goal to help the Senators complete a home-and-home sweep of the Hurricanes.

Emery finished with 27 saves in his eighth career shutout. He held off the Hurricanes on a pair of power plays late in the contest to secure the win.

The Senators are 8-0-and-1 in their last nine games, giving them a five-point lead over Pittsburgh for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes remain one point behind the New York Islanders and Montreal for the final Eastern Conference playoff slot.
