Edwards remains mum on endorsement in race for White House

READ MORE:
RALEIGH (AP) -- The leading Democratic candidates for president are lobbying John Edwards for his support. But the former North Carolina senator is still silent, not yet willing to say if he'll cast his vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama. Edwards has remained largely out of sight since dropping his White House bid two weeks ago. Aides said he's spending most of his time with family and friends at home in Chapel Hill. But Edwards hasn't disengaged from politics. Edwards adviser John Moylan said he's spoken on numerous occasions with both Obama and Clinton. Moylan said it's also possible that Edwards will simply wait to endorse the party's nominee. Obama leads Clinton by just 55 delegates in a race too close to call. Edwards won 26 delegates before exiting the race, making his endorsement a valuable one. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
