ATLANTA (AP) -- Marian Hossa scored his 37th and 38th goals of the season as Atlanta beat Carolina 3-to-1.

Ilya Kovalchuk snapped a one-all tie in the second period with his 34th goal, beating John Grahame on a power play.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 35 shots and blanked the Hurricanes after Rod Brind'Amour beat him in the final minute of the first period.

The Thrashers have won two straight at home since dropping five in a row at Atlanta. They moved into a virtual tie with Tampa Bay for the Southeast Division lead and remain two points behind Pittsburgh for fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes stays five points off the Southeast lead.
