My father was a property manager for 2 apartment complexes in Wilmington in the 70's and 80's. He used to tell me about deputies under Sheriff H.G. Groman and the Sheriff's that followed him who would come to search apartments and durring their search the would pocket cash, jewelry, and any other small valuble they might find. Corruption in law enforcment is nothing new and it seems to be getting worse instead of better. Dishonest officers and deputies make it impossible for for the honest ones to do their jobs and criminals get away in the process. They should fry Ron Hewett's ass just like they did Wilmington native Mike Nifong when he tried to screw the Duke lacross players. Send the message just because you have a badge and an office you are not above the law.
