WILMINGTON -- At 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning police will be shutting down streets around Third Street for the Azalea Festival parade. If you're coming from the north off the Isabelle Holmes Bridge or MLK parkway, Third Street will be closed at Davis street. From the south, coming from Carolina Beach Road, Third and Castle will be blocked off. If you're coming from the east all intersections at Fourth and Fifth Streets downtown will be blocked off too. All Second Street parking decks will be open, you can get to them off of Chestnut Street. Parking there will cost $5. Make sure you arrive early -- the garages will close at 8:15 a.m. sharp. If you want to avoid parking all together you can take the bus. You can hop on the WAVE near Sears at Independence Mall, where it will take you to Second and Dock streets. That will only cost you $1. The bus will operate in seven minute intervals, between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Police say be careful about parking in people's lawn's and in vacant lots because you will be parking at your own risk. On-street parking downtown is free after 5:00 p.m. on Friday and free all day Saturday and Sunday. The parking decks will cost $5 per day.
