TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- The Atlantic Coast Conference is wading into the heart of Southeastern Conference country to stage its signature event.
For the first time in league history, the ACC tournament is being held in the state of Florida. Play at the Saint Pete Times Forum in Tampa begins at noon as ninth-seeded Florida State faces eighth-seeded Clemson.
Also today, fifth-seeded Maryland meets Number 12 seed Miami. Seventh-seed Duke makes a rare first-day appearance and faces 10th-seeded North Carolina State. The finale has sixth-seed Georgia Tech playing 11th-seed Wake Forest.
