Businesses, schools closed after water main breaks

PENDER COUNTY -- Dozens of businesses closed, classes in four schools canceled and hundreds of residents without water. That was the scene in Pender County Thursday after a water main break in Rocky Point. Pender County officials say the water main broke at about one a.m. Four schools in the county, including Heide Trask High, had to shut down for the day due to lack of water. County officials say the water main has been fixed and hope to restore water to the area before the end of the day. Schools should be back in session Friday.
