A local high school student has been named the state's 2008 Female Athlete of the Year. Pender High senior Jannetta Robinson earned the award for her outstanding athletic achievements during her high school career. She played volleyball, basketball and softball and ran track. Robinson led the Patriots basketball team to a state runner-up finish and was the Eastern Regional most valuable player this season. Robinson's athleticism has paid off. She has just received a full scholarship to Barton College to play basketball.
