WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Carolina Hurricanes had four days off to regroup for their final push toward the playoff. Tonight, they'll see if the time off helped.
Carolina is in Washington tonight to face the Capitals, and one mission will be to take advantage of the power play.
Over the past seven games, the Hurricanes have converted only one of 35 power plays. That drought includes eight missed chances in a shutout loss to Ottawa and four lost opportunities against the Atlanta Thrashers last Sunday.
Cashing in tonight might be the edge that the Hurricanes need as they try to get back into the playoff picture. Washington has won just once in its last 11 games.
