Please spend the money and get young ones the lessons to swim. Coming from a parent who did not know how to swim: It is scary for the mother to watch her children in the water. Have the children taught swimming lessons. Treading could have saved this child. Fear of water and living near TONS of it is as bad as building mansions on the shoreline. Death in the end. Or teach 'em to swim.... and float. I am terribly saddened by this whole water drowning. I lost a dear friend of mine in fourth grade from drowning at a computer camp in the eighties. Teach this next generation to survive in the water, so that they can enjoy the ocean and waters they live near. That way, perhaps those very children can grow up and live near water and ALSO know what to do with the leadership we give them.
