I am disabled and I am only 47, I went for a week last year with only a fan, the AC broke in my rental home and the landlord refused to fix it. I called, as did my nurse to try to get me a "FREE" fan or ac. They turned me down, as they have in previous years because I was not old enough. I have severe breathing problems, I can barely walk most of the time, and heat makes it all worse. Just being sick, disabled is not enough to get help. DO they think because I am not elderly I can make it in the heat. This person in this story is not elderly. Imagine what is felt like for these people to die in this heat. Why can I not get help? Where was the help for these people? This is so wrong, that they can DIE and nobody tried to help. Poor people. That would have to be a horrible way to go.
