Leaders meeting today to discuss Empie Park tennis expansion

READ MORE:
Wilmington Parks and Recreation leaders are meeting today to discuss the tennis court expansion project at Empie Park. Empie currently has eight courts. Players will soon have more, thanks to a $1.5 million parks and green space bond. Thousands of people in Wilmington play tennis, netting the need for more courts. Tara Duckworth, Wilmington Parks and Recreation, said, "The tennis community has been looking to expand the facilities. There's such a great demand for tennis in the area, its been something working on for years with other tennis advocates." The public meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the downtown library. One issue the group is discussing is just how many new tennis courts are needed.
