I am not a native, but the Southport area has been my home for 31 years. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would want to build a port in an area that is so difficult to get in and out of. With Progress Energy and Sunny Point, which show no indication of going anywhere any time soon, how will they get 100s of trucks in and out of the area on a daily basis?
