Economy impacting local animal groups

The economy is having an major impact on local rescue groups and animal shelters. Many are being inundated with pets whose owners can no longer afford to keep them. That is why there is a great need for animal foster parents. Tonight, the Cape Fear Golden Retriever rescue is holding a foster parents' training class. It will teach things like how to introduce foster dogs to the dogs you currently have, house training and basic obedience training. Priscilla Skare, Cape Fear Golden Retriever Rescue, said, "We thought it would be a good idea to motivate people." If you have never fostered a dog before, it doesn't matter. Anyone interested in becoming a foster pet parent is welcome to attend tonight's class. It begins at 7:00 p.m. at Aunt Kerry's Pet Shop on South College Road in Wilmington.
