You can certainly put them in jail

United States' laws relative to driving while intoxicated are a joke. The entire purpose for a criminal justice system is to protect society from those who would harm it, but we prefer to SOUND tough while doing little. Second offense DUI should carry a hefty jail sentence, whopper of a fine, and suspension of license for a minimum of two years, or until the fine is paid. No restricted licenses, either. Third offense? Felony. Prison, for a lonnnnnng time. Lifetime revocation of driver's license.
