READ MORE:
The Outback Steakhouse on College Road in Wilmington scored an 87 with the health department. They lost points for having dirty equipment and for storing clean dishes on dirty dish clothes. Inspectors say they found mold in some of the coolers, and the diaper changing station in the bathroom was dirty too. Porters Neck Banquet on Vintage Club Drive in Wilmington scored an 86. Health inspectors docked points because they stored raw chicken next to ready to eat food, and also stored chemicals next to food. Szechuan Buffet in the 6900 block of Market Street lost points for preparing vegetables next to the raw meat prep area. And health inspectors say employees there need to wash their hands after using the bathroom. What's more, there was no hot water in the men's restroom -- a 76 this week for Szechuan Buffet. Valino's on Carolina Beach Road scored a 86.5 thanks to food temperature problems and a dirty kitchen. Over at the Waffle House on South College Road. Inspectors spotted a cook putting raw hamburgers on the grill with her bare hands then cutting vegetables with out washing her hands first. They scored an 85.5. Finally, the Kangaroo Store on Castle Hayne Road got an 85.5. Among other things, the hand washing sink didn't work and there were no soap or towels. Now this week's Kitchen Cops high performers. Smithfield's Chicken and Barbeque in Wilmington is keeping it clean. A New Hanover County health inspector handed them a perfect score. Add two points for workers passing a food safety course and Smithfield's earns 102. The same score for the Starbucks at Mayfaire Town Centre. Midtown Deli and Grill on 17th Street in Wilmington scored a perfect 100 with the New Hanover County Health Department. Quiznos on College Road in Wilmington also scored a perfect 100. And also a perfect score for WineStyles wine sellers in Wilmington.
