The town of Kure Beach just began a new weekly recycling program. Rather than dropping off recyclables at the town recycling center, or holding on to it for an entire month, residents will now have their recyclables collected every Monday. Town administrators say the new program will save money and prevent trash from piling up. The town will use the nearly $20,000 a year spent on the recycling container to provide the new program without additional costs for residents. Town council hopes that the weekly program will lead to greater participation from residents.
