WILMINGTON -- Some Wilmington vet clinics have been flooded with pet owners concerned about a new pet food recall.
Since Saturday more than 60 million cans and pouches of Menu Foods' wet food have been recalled.
Reports say the bad pet food can cause kidney failure and possibly death.
The FDA says at least 13 cats and one dog have died due to the recalled pet food.
Here in Wilmington vets say they haven't seen any deaths or kidney problems due to the food, but pet owners should still be cautious.
Doctor of veterinary medicine G.R. Weedon said, "If you have identified that your animal has consumed the effected product give your vet a call. We've been running what's called a renal profile -- it tests kidney blood values as well as a urinalysis. And if everything's normal then you don't have to worry."
Menu Foods makes products for brand names like: Eukanuba, Iams, Science Diet and Nutro Natural Choice as well as some store brands for companies including Wal-Mart.
If you're feeding your pet dry food, you're safe.
