BURGAW, NC (WWAY) -- It could be deja-vu all over again for the Pender County Health Department. A special committee met Wednesday night to discuss a replacement for outgoing Health Director Jack Griffith.

The committee was supposed to name an interim replacement and begin the search for permanent one. But the majority decided to ask the Board of Health to let Griffith continue to lead the department until a permanent director is named.

“It's not worth it to bring one for two months,” said Dr. Naseem Nasrallah a member of the committee. “So continuation of the management now and passing it to the new one is better.”

The Board of Health will have to hold an emergency meeting to consider the request. We were unable to contact Griffith to find out if he would accept the position if asked.

Thanks for your service..........

"Dr. Jack" has served his county long and well. He has announced a retirement date and should stick to those plans. When there is this much controversy surrounding you, why stick around?? Walk away (as planned) with your head held high instead of sticking around and continuing to “stir the pot”.

Thank for your service ......

but it is not needed and neither is the comment. Dr. Jack is not and has not ever "stirred the pot". He only has the best interest of the PCHD and Pender County in mind. I only wish that he would not retire and give those MOBSTERS what they want. Because believe me there is a hidden agenda behind this soap opera and we the citizens of Pender County would suffer.

Ironic

one must wonder if a few of those "off camera" interviewees have started looking for alternate employment.

Dr. Jack has impeccable credentials. Let him do his job. Hopefully that includes pruning a few rotten apples from the tree.
