Concerns about downtown open-air market

READ MORE: Concerns about downtown open-air market

Some business owners worry that a market on market street will lead to more parking issues, over-crowding and safety problems.

The market is intended to sell fresh produce, local art and unique crafts. They are things that other business owners think will draw people downtown.

Others supporting the project are voicing their opinions via Facebook.

Pay $$ for what we already have

So...we have a market on Sundays...and I have heard from some venders that it just does "okay". What makes anyone that spending more money will make it maginificent? What about the off season? What about the fact that this could be a permanent space that mght be left vacant when there are trees there that look better than a run down old building. This city has a real problem with spending money on "good ideas" that are really not needed. Fix the budget, then talk to the city about more spending...

I totally agree with not

I totally agree with not having it 24 hrs a day. Whats the point in that? 7 to 7 or 7- 8 sounds like a great idea. I think this would greatly benefit Wilmington. I am for the open air market!

24 Hour Market Really

Is it really necessary to have the market open 24 hours daily. Most people would do their shopping between 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. Most people shopping in the market would not be downtown at such hours. Rethink this decision. Safety First.
