Convention center progress slow

WILMINGTON -- It's been almost two weeks since the Wilmington convention center's groundbreaking, but the site is still pretty quiet. Project manager Steve Bridges says contractors are expected to sign and return the contract by Tuesday. Then a pre-construction meeting will map out the next steps. Bridges says crews should be at the site working by mid-January. Bridges said, "The contractor has to order the materials and that takes time to get. He also has to mobilize his trailer on the site and he has some surveying to do so there's a lot of preliminary work that's got to be done before you actually see equipment on the site." John S. Clark is the project's contractor. Bridges says he doesn't expect the current plans to change.

convention center

why stop with monkey junction? annex the whole county-and when the convention center fails to live up to its expectations, will mayor saffo leave town mid term like the last mayor? my taxes already increased 20 percent from last year. i predict that the burden of this mess will end up on the backs of the taxpayers. and when salaries don't increase to meet the demand, the whole thing will implode. i thought they weren't going to build unless they had a hotel lined up. what happened?

No where near enough people

No where near enough people who did not want the center did not go and vote Saffo and the rest of them out of office. Wilmington got what they wanted. Bring back Pat!!!!

No where near enough people

and nobody good decided to run against Saffo either.

Military Cutoff took four

Military Cutoff took four years, why would we expect this to be speedy?????????

Shoooosh! Monkey Junction

Shoooosh! Monkey Junction hasn't been annexed yet...then the wrecking ball will swing.
