WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Two convicted murders from New Hanover County are getting off of death row. Kyle Berry and Jamey Cheek are scheduled to be resentenced tomorrow.

Berry was sentenced to die for the 1998 murder of Theresa Fetter. Cheek was sent to death row for kidnapping a taxi cab driver in 1996, and burning her to death in the trunk of her car. Both sentences were vacated during the appeals process. The men are expected to be given life sentences instead.

Try them and fry them. Why should "we the tax paying people" have to pay for their three hots and a cot.

You obviously don't know what your talking about. It costs far more to execute a person than to house them fore life. Furthermore, execution is barbaric and brings you down to the killers level. It obviously is no deterrent to crime and does nothing but cost money and pain for even more people.

Say what you want, but they deserved to die...and die a horrible death. I say bring back public hangings or better yet let them be beat to death. Nothing is too good or doo horrific for these to low life thugs. I would love for these two to die a very slow and extremely painful death

This was the best thing to do for both families. We have suffered enough in all these years of having to return to court time after time for the senseless acts of some psychotic guys. Why should we suffer anymore?! At least now we can begin to heal and get on with our lives, rather than have to worry about when the next phone call will come to say he has appealed again.
