In a five-to-two vote, council approved the construction of more bathrooms, and a shower facility for boaters along the Wilmington Riverfront.
The money for the facility will come from a state grant that will only allow boaters who pay docking fees to use them.
Currently, there are only two public restrooms at the location, near the Visitor's Center at Market and Water Streets.
Council will have a second reading of the ordinance at its next meeting.

Now how are you going to keep the panhandlers from sleeping in these areas?
Private bathrooms
There are only two public bathrooms downtown riverfront and it sounds like you now want to make a private bathroom for boaters. Then when your docking fees have been save up from all the boats that dock downtown to build this facility then do so, otherwise don't spend tax payers money to do so that can't use the facility.
