NCDOT aims to help travelers save time and money over July 4 holiday

As the summer travel season continues, the NC Department of Transportation is taking steps to help motorists save both time and money by suspending most road construction activities on major routes across the state. By avoiding traffic delays, motorists can reach their destinations more quickly while also cutting down on fuel consumption and costs.

NC Forest Service plans to burn 2,700 more acres in Bladen to control wildfire

video Crews are still battling a wildfire in Bladen County. So far that fire has spread across 1,300 acres. The forest service is working to contain it.

27 eastern counties now under burn ban

Bladen County wildfire destroys homes; burns 1,300 acres

videoSome of the attention involving wildfires in our area has now shifted to Bladen County. Work crews for North Carolina Forest Services are trying to contain a fire that is believed to have started because of lightning that struck Monday night. That fire has now burned a large section of land near White Oak and has destroyed at least three homes.

Two months after tornadoes, Bladen clean-up continues

videoTwo months ago strong storms left behind a trail of debris in Bladen County. Four people died across the county in the storms. The tornadoes left plenty of damage as well as businesses and families left picking up the pieces of their lives. Today we went back to see how the clean-up is going.

Smithfield posts first profitable year since 2008

Travis Pait named West Bladen basketball coach

Ken Cross shook up Bladen County when he left the West Bladen Knights in order to coach the East Bladen Eagles. Today the Knights introduced the replacement for Ken Cross. It'll be Bladenboro native Travis Pait.
