video We often hear from viewers who want to see more coverage of positive things going on in our community. In an effort to do this, we are showcasing the people and groups doing good around our area and how you can get involved. The world can be changed if you "just add hope." Carolina Canines is an organization made up of volunteers who train service dogs for people around our area and around the country who are disabled or need therapy.

THE RANT: Please don't call it Cape Fear anymore

And then you've got Wilmington, epicenter of the Cape Fear Coast, right? Well, not any more. The brain trust at the Brandon Agency, an ad company in Myrtle Beach, thinks we should be called "Wilmington: River District and Island Beaches" now. Snazzy huh?

Rivenbark in critical condition; No charges filed while he's in hospital

Wilmington City Councilman Charlie Rivenbark's son Travis is in critical condition Monday after being hit by a car while on his bicycle Saturday night. He suffered severe injuries including a broken neck.

Demon Deacons suspend Ty Walker

Former New Hanover Wildcat center Ty Walker has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules for the Wake Forest basketball team. Walker is still a member of the Demon Deacons basketball squad. A timetable for his return is not known.

WPD won't release info in Pine Valley murder

Carol Ann Johnson was found dead in her Pine Valley Drive home lask week by her fiance more than a week ago. Wilmington police still won't release the cause of death or any other details from the autopsy because they say it could hinder the investigation.

Hamerheads knock off Antigua again

The Wilmington Hammerheads earned six points over the weekend with two victories over Antigua Barricuda FC. Sunday's game started more than an hour late, but Wilmington still managed to emerge victorious.
