Gravely Commissioning organizers promised expense reports today; Still no numbers

Organizers for the Gravely Commissioning and the 11-day party centered around the event told a local newspaper this week that it would be able to provide expense reports on how it spent at least $50,000 in tax payer money by today.

Louise McColl admitted today she was under-budget by $50,000 a few weeks out, and went to the Wilmington City Council Members and New Hanover Commissioners for the money. "We could have (cut back)," she said, "We just, at that late point, we didn't. We probably, you know, we could have done that."

video Now that Louise McColl, chairman of the group in charge of the Commissioning of the USS Gravely, admitted that she asked for $50,000 in taxpayer money instead of cutting the budget for her 11-day party, we wanted to know if the New Hanover County Commission bothered to ask her what the money would be spent on when she made her request.
