Keeping you safe during the snowstorm and other weather events is not free. Counties have to pay for the equipment, materials, and of course the man power. Often times people don't stop and think what something may cost when they are in a time of need. Some parts of Pender County were among the hardest by snow in our area, to the tune of about six inches or more in many places. It was enough to close schools again tomorrow. And with most folks off of work as well today, it made for a great day to enjoy the snow day. Full story...

Nearly one thousand people plunged into the Atlantic on New Years day during the ninth annual Dolphin Dip in Surf City. This is the first year the event benefited the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. Full story...
