Cunningham makes last visit before run-off

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Just days before voters go back to the polls, US Senate candidate Cal Cunningham visited the Port City. Cunningham chose Wilmington as one of 22 stops during his "Beat Burr Tour." He met with people in the community to make one last push to get voters out for his Democratic primary run-off against Secretary of State Elaine Marshall.

Cunningham is a former state Senator and Captain in the US Army Reserves. He says he hopes to create new jobs, restore innovation to this economy and reform health care. He also says he's optimistic about this election.

"I'm the new guy in this campaign," Cunningham said. "I've only been at this about six months. My opponent has been at this for the last 16 out of 18 years. She's spent her career in politics, and I've got some catching up to do, but I'm very pleased with how much energy and momentum we are coming into election day with."

Early voting for the run-off ends Saturday. Election Day is Tuesday.

This John Edwards clone shouldn't brag too much about his military service. Wasn't he there to prosecute other soldiers?
