Cut the fat by replacing a few ingredients

Cutting the fat and calories from your diet is not always easy, but dietitians say replacing a couple of ingredients can make all the difference. Take a batch of brownies for instance. Instead of using oil, which is all fat, substitute an equal amount of applesauce. That will save you close to 900 calories and 100 grams of fat. Instead of eating store-bought chicken nuggets, make your own. Using an egg and herb mixture, and coating the chicken with Melba toast will save you about 90 calories and about 13 grams of fat.

I agree with article

I agree with article completely. Anytime I am baking, I always cut out or replace items that's not really needed. When I make brownies or cakes, I use unsweetened applesauce and you really can't tell the difference. I also use whole grains and other foods that are high in figer and low in fat. Replacing regular sugar with substitutes also helps a lot

disagree with the dieticians

I find that cutting fat in baked goods doesn't help with weight loss because the fat contributes to a feeling of fullness, and you end up eating more to feel satisfied, not to mention the jump in blood sugar from the extra sweetener. Much better to eat regular food in moderation, and it tastes better too.
