GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN, N.C. (AP) -- It doesn't take triple digits to break the daily temperature record on Grandfather Mountain. The mountain is one of the highest peaks in the Blue Ridge mountain range and broke the previous record for yesterday by reaching 81 degrees. The temperature also broke the record the day before with an 80-degree reading. Both of the previous daily records were set in 1979. The Weather Service reporting station on Grandfather Mountain recorded its highest temperature August 22, 1983 and July 26, 2005. It was 83 degrees those two days.
