Dance-a-Lorus sets film festival in motion

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The opening performance for the Cucalorus Film Festival merges film and dance. Dance-a-Lorus is a chance for choreographers to collaborate with filmmakers to come up with a performance piece.

Dancers from Wilmington's Dance Cooperative put the work in motion using different styles of dance and even playing the role of the silver screen.

"Dance-a-Lorus is an event for filmmakers and choreographers and dancers to showcase dance, modern dance," Dance Cooperative's Nancy Carson said. "We have actually a tap this time, and we have hip-hop, so it's collaboration of efforts."

Dance-a-Lorus is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Thalian Hall.

Tickets are $15. They are available at Thalian Hall's box office, at Cucalorus headquarters at 201 Princess Street or online at

Too bad you will all miss

Too bad you will all miss out on a dance that was way more entertaining then half of the pieces in the show. The "panel" decided to kick them out 4 days before the show because of miscommunication. That put out a bunch of dancers from even performing. What a great organization!
