Democrats prepare for Iowa debate

Democrats seeking the presidential nomination are gathering for another debate, this time it's in Iowa at Drake University. The debate airs Sunday morning on ABC. The race for the White House is heating up and on Sunday, George Stephanopoulos -- host of This Week -- will moderate a debate between the eight democratic presidential candidates in Des Moines, Iowa. This week they're fighting for it fiercely because they know with Iowa determined to be the first caucus state, Iowa could determine who the next nominee is. And the race could not be any closer. In the latest ABC News-Washington post poll of Iowa residents, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois holds the slimmest of leads with 27 percent, followed by Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina at 26 percent each. Look for Clinton to play up the issue of experience and for Obama to sell himself as an agent of change. But the debate could also be critical for Senators Joe Biden and Chris Dodd, along with Gov. Bill Richardson. Not one can afford to play it safe Sunday if he has any shot at the nomination. The debate will last 90 minutes and you can see it in the ABC "This Week" time slot Sunday morning.
