BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A Brunswick County developer who owes more than $2 million in back taxes lost his appeal to have his tax bill reduced. Mark Saunders and his attorneys argued that Brunswick County improperly revalued hundreds of lots in his luxury home developments, making his tax bill skyrocket overnight.
The Board of Equalization and review ruled that saunders is too late to appeal his 2008 and 2009 tax bills. They say his 2010 tax valuation was done correctly.
Saunders and his attorney plan to appeal to the state level. The county set up a payment plan to collect the back taxes.

Mark Saunders Crook
Mark Saunders should go to jail for the ponzi scheme he perpetrated on us. Selling us overpriced land and taking the money to move on and start another community without ever finishing the one we bought in.
Taxes
What a shame, he has to pay his taxes like the rest of us.
So the property was only
So the property was only worth the extravagant amount when he was selling them, but now that he has to pay taxes on it, he says the value was set too high?
