Dinner to your door

READ MORE: Dinner to your door
Love the convenience of delivery, but sometimes pizza and Chinese food get a little old? A local company has a solution; they deliver food from restaurants to your doorstep. Big city convenience has made it's way to Wilmington. "I was tired of getting just Chinese and pizza delivery and I wanted to expand that, and I knew the only way to do that was to do it myself,” said Josh Clerghorn. With that in mind, Josh Clerghorn started Surfside Takeout Express. "If you're at the pool, if you're at the beach, if you can't get out of bed, you just order from us and we can bring you several different options from several different restaurants." As of now, delivery is offered from five restaurants: Islands Fresh Mex Grill, Mellow Mushroom, Pita Delite, Priddyboys, and Sweet and Savory Café. "It gives us the opportunity to capture some of the business that we would not normally have with regards to people who can't get out of their house or their office, people who are on the beach who don't want to leave,” said Lucas Jones, the owner of Islands. To have food delivered you can either call Surfside Express at 547-8883 or put in your order on their website, You can create an online account that will save your information for future deliveries - but it's not required. Select your restaurant choice, pick your meal, and use the drop down menus to specify toppings or special requests. When you're ready to check out, enter your secure payment information. You'll actually pay when your food arrives, cash or swiping your credit card. You'll pay restaurant prices, plus a $5.00 delivery charge. If you want food from more than one restaurant, add $3.50 for each stop. Chip Perry is a frequent surfside customer. The Radio Shack manager has a tough time breaking away from work for lunch. "During our lunch time is also everybody else's lunch time, and that's when mostly everybody runs their errands is during their lunchtimes, they come in here and we get slammed, so usually form like 11:30 to 2:00, it's almost impossible to leave the store to do anything." Many would agree it's nice to get out of the office for a bit, but if that's not an option, Surfside Express can bring your favorite meal to you. Surfside Express delivers between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm, seven days a week. The company is working on another component, where you'll be able to order your groceries online and they'll go grocery shopping for you.

over charge

called surfside about the difference between their menu price vs the restaurant menu price. The operator at surfside told me that their markup is 10% on food plus a 5 dollar delivery fee in a certain radius. well the math dosent add up a 8.49 dollar dish from san feilpe cost $10.34 on the surfside website... thats a mark up of 23% so be aware of what you are paying for the convenience of having something delivered. I haved ordered from them many times but never again....... Do your Reserch>>>>
