Dole, McIntyre weigh in on SCHIP bill

READ MORE:
While here Sen. Dole weighed in on the SCHIP bill. She said while she wants to reauthorize it and supports expanding funding for the program, she says the bill hurts North Carolina in its current form because the source of the funding comes from a heavy tobacco tax. Local Congressman Mike McIntyre says he's changing his stance on the SCHIP bill and will now vote to override President Bush's veto. Like Sen. Dole, he said he objected to the method of funding for the bill -- but has "always supported the SCHIP program and will do what is necessary to preserve it for the sake of children and families in need."

Why reduce Medicare coverage to do this?

Why reduce benefits to 70, 80 and 90 year old citizens who are having end of life illnesses to support children up to 25 years of age who are having children themselves? Where does this madness end, with the elderly out on the streets with a tin cup? Where is the government of Mexico and other countries who are sending their citizens here in droves robbing our citizens of their end of life monies that are being lost in taxes to support their citizens as well as single mothers who will not work and never intend to?

Easy

It's easy to say "what about the children" but this S CHIP program is one large step closer to the failed ideas of socialism. With less tax burden people could afford to pay for health insurance.

Bush wants to preserve it too, Mike

He just doesn't want to expand it by billions more dollars. Sorry to hear you don't have enough testosterone or backbone to stand up to Nancy and stick with your original vote....
