Nick Tice had extra help Monday night on his pizza delivery routes. He did not necessarily need it, but he got it anyway. Nick had help from Wilmington firefighters. "We're teaming up tonight with domino's pizza doing a nationwide fire & safety thing. If your smoke detectors are working and operational, then Domino's will actually give you a free pizza tonight," said Captain Carson Crazy Bear of the Wilmington Fire Department. Home owner Cindy Mahn said, "We order pizza from Domino's about once a week. Any money we can save right now is great." Tice and the firefighters had fun delivering free pizzas all around Wilmington. And it is no coincidence this upcoming weekend is the best time to check your smoke detectors.. "The time change is actually going to be the night of the 31st,” said Crazy Bear. “When everybody takes their clocks to turn them back an hour we also recommend they check the batteries on their smoke detectors and replace them at that time." Free pizza and peace of mind; a hot combination in Wilmington. Firefighters even gave out smoke detectors, courtesy of Domino’s. Other fire departments in the area will be taking part in the Domino's promotion later this week.
