Drought conditions worsen

Drought conditions are getting worse throughout the state. The US Drought Monitor reported today that 66 percent of the state is now suffering from exceptional drought, which is the most intense drought category. It was 56 percent last week. Exceptional drought conditions exist in the western half of the state and extend through both the triad and triangle, small sections along the Virginia border, and much of the coast. The drought is the worst in North Carolina history. State officials say water systems serving almost four million people are under mandatory water restrictions, and 14 systems have water supplies of less than 100 days.

The new hospital building at 17th and Independence waters regularly as does Pine Valley Church of God on Shipyard. They must have missed the drought notice.

the good city people

Now that this drought is getting serious maybe the city will get serious about the watering your lawn ordinance. Every day I still see my neighbors around Greenfield lake watering their lawn and no one does anything about it. It is obvious my neighbors do not care about where they live or how they live affecting others. Just the other day my neighbor blew every leave in his yard into the street where they will get swept into the storm drains and cause us taxpayers to pay for the drain to get repaired but only after it rains a little the drain doesn't do its job and a house gets flooded first. It would not be so bad if the neighbor I see doing this every week did not work for the city. I guess he's doing this for job security. I'm moving my tax money to a better county. Are you listening Saffo? Others are.

If the drought is so bad, why is Eastwood Rd. in front of Landfall being watered everyday? If that's not bad enough, half the sprinklers are pointing out into the road. I'm so glad the asphalt I drive on is well watered while my lawn is dying!

very good point! pretty

very good point! pretty messed up for some people to waste water (water asphalt) while others are doing their best to conserve by letting our lawns die.
