Economy bottoms out

READ MORE: Economy bottoms out

Experts say the economy has finally reached rock bottom. That said, the way back looks like a long and rocky road. Brooks Addis owns and operates a construction company in Wilmington. Economic experts say, construction is one of the industries that has suffered most during this recession. So Addis has had to make some changes. "Cut back a hundred dollars here and there a month, save a little bit on gas by putting two people in a truck as opposed to one, you know things like that." Lately, folks have not been building new homes, so he's been falling back on renovations. Keeping his clients happy is also one way to ensure more business despite these hard times. "Doing it right the first time, keeping it simple, and therefore save people money." Hundreds of people gathered at UNCW Tuesday for the annual economic outlook conference. They, too, are looking for ways to ride out the recession, but that ride could take a while. We may have hit rock bottom, but experts say we'll coast there for a bit before things get any better. "The rebound in construction will be fairly slow. The rebound in real estate will be fairly slow. There will be rebounds, but they just won't be as dramatic as they were in the 2002, 2001 recession,” said UNCW economist Woody Hall. Experts say in order to survive this recession businesses have to be patient, although they admit that may be easier said than done. So just how bad is this recession? The experts told the conference that in their 20 plus years of forecasting economic trends, this is by far the worst recession they've seen.

These X-perts at UNCW are

These X-perts at UNCW are always first to share to the locals that this/that etc. is on the rebound, then a few days later conflicting reports hit the news and undo what the X-perts at UNCW have just predicted. Maybe these professionals should start taking class instead of teaching class. The Jean Dixon's of Wilmington are in such a hurry to get back to over building/crowding/no efficient road systems/etc., it's enough to make you think the bottom to this mess is still where it has been for months on end....still at the bottom. Only people can make this mess reoccur all over again, and in a time where patience is pretty much nonexistent...we'll be right back into this mess before the bottom is ever met.

Are these the same economic

Are these the same economic experts that told us we were not in a recession before? Riiiiiiight. Until everyone is unemployed and homeless, the economy can always get worse.

Recession bottoming out

The so called experts are not the ones looking for work, and unable to find it. This article is wishful thinking. There is no bottoming out until we experience several consecutive quarters of positive growth, and until the unemployment numbers turn around.

WRONG

Actually no, the experts are extremely divided on whether or not the economy has bottomed. People like Peter Schiff, Tom Woods, and Roubini (who had predicted this economic collapse while other continiously laughed at them) say that we are not even close to recovery. Please quit spreading these lies.

the economy is at the bottom

the economy is at the bottom when the unemployment rate stops rising and starts dropping....oh NY Times...your attempt to help out the falling approval rate of obama is transparent
