WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- If you're in the market for a new car, New Years Eve is the last day to get a great end of the year deal before 2011.

According to the website TrueCar.com, some of the best days to buy a new car fall in the final two weeks of the year, and the least expensive deals are on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

With many people off from work and kids home from college, many people say now is a good time to get out and shop. Some dealerships offer extra incentives to buying 2010 models.

Kellen Lopez bought a truck on Friday and says he wanted to wait until New Years Eve to make his purchase.

"It's a good time to buy a vehicle," Kellen says. "My dad said the end of the year is the best time of year to do it."

For most car dealers, this may be the most intense time of the year. Many dealers do up to 70 or 80 percent of their December business in the week after Christmas.

Jason Tuton, the general manager of Wilmington Nissan says he enjoys the chaos.

"Everybody jumps in and is excited about buying things and spending money and we're no different," says Tuton.

Incentives and special deals on new cars are pretty typical for dealers, especially at the end of every month. Some say that shopping for a new vehicle in December may not be that great of a deal.

"I don't know that December is really different than any other month," says shopper, Laura Courtney. "We bought previous cars in the month of December and we always feel we get a pretty good deal."
