Celebrate stories with your kids at this free family festival! NHC Library’s 5th Annual Story Extravaganza is all about getting kids excited about reading. Storytellers and performers who will bring stories to life in the auditorium include No Sleeves Magic, Performance Club Kids, the Party Crew, Memory Lane Comics, Jocelyn Beam-Walson, Terry Rollins, Beth Peddle and Kristin Zamorski, Scott McCormick, Blake Cissel, Tom Czaplinski, Max Nunez, Susan DeMarco, Shannon Vaughn, and Scooter Hayes. There will be three sets of five short acts each, with half-hour-long breaks between sets. Self-paced story-based activities will be available all morning in other parts of Northeast Library. Keith Baker’s book LMNO Peas will inspire kids to create art with green peas in a space managed by the Wilmington Children’s Museum. A Texas Roadhouse activity center will be based on Jan Brett’s book Armadillo Rodeo. Kids can explore shadows on a story walk based on the book Game of Shadows by Herve Tullet, while creepers and crawlers can test their developing skills in the Baby Obstacle Course. PNC’s Mobile Learning Adventure will keep the fun and learning going on in the parking lot. This traveling exhibit educates parents and entertains kids with interactive kiosks, a photo booth, craft area, activity board, and giveaways. The Mobile Learning Adventure is a part of PNC Grow Up Great, a $350 million initiative to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life.
