Extended Stay Hotels LLC's parent company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The Spartanburg, South Carolina based company operates more than 650 hotels in the US and Canada, including one on New Center Drive in Wilmington.
The bankruptcy filing does not necessarily mean the company is closing it's hotels. In Chapter 11, a company typically tries to stay in business and reorganize its finances under court supervision.
