Some soon to be college students got some help filling out important financial forms today as 65 locations, like UNCW, participated in the Seventh Annual FAFSA Day. Colleges, high school representatives, and volunteers helped parents sort through the paper work to apply for federal student aid. With a slow economy, organizers say they had a record turn out. “Many families that may have not qualified for financial aid in the past that will at this point in time for need based financial aid,” said UNCW Financial Aid Director Emily Bliss. At UNCW they had more than 160 families come out for help. The economic stimulus package will add $500 in grant money and increase the federal work-study program for college students.
